Megan Kelley McCarthy is a certified permaculture design specialist and whole systems educator who has devoted the past decade to creating communal food forests and facilitating educational regenerative gardening experiences throughout her home state of Florida.
She has a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University of New Orleans. She’s completed Permaculture Design Certifications with Koreen Brennan of Grow Permaculture in Brooksville, Florida and with Ben Falk, Mark Krawczyk, and Erik Schellenberg of Whole Systems Design in Rochester, Vermont. She’s designed, installed, and cared for several communal food forest gardens and have facilitated three Permaculture Design Certifications in Florida since 2021, certifying over 75 students in permaculture design.

In the spirit of cultivating Food Forests for all, we are asking you to show your support to Peaceful Paths this year. Peaceful Paths is the certified domestic violence center that serves survivors of domestic violence in Alachua, Bradford, and Union counties. Peaceful Paths provides a wide range of services including emergency shelter, 24-hour helpline, victim advocacy, children’s programming, economic empowerment education and support, crisis counseling and support groups, community awareness and intervention, and violence prevention programs.

The food pantry is available to those in the shelter or program participants living in the community. The most needed food items are:

Canned Meats (chicken, tuna, salmon)
Boxed Pasta
