About the event
Mother's Day Garden Tour and Luncheon

Includes an immersive garden tour featuring two distinct and unique gardens, both showcasing a variety of horticultural styles, plant species, and landscaping techniques. Attendees (and their Moms!) will have the opportunity to explore the rich biodiversity and artistic arrangements that characterize both gardens, allowing them to appreciate the creativity and effort invested by the gardeners. We all have yards in various stages of recovery from our cold winter. This tour is an opportunity to see how various plants are now springing to life and also learn about those less successful ones. The gardens are near each other in SW Gainesville with parking on the street.
Garden #1: Stroll a garden that is a collection of little chapters—bits about lots of different things—each planted with care and curiosity. Wander through garden beds that nod to a Homegrown National Park and pockets with a thriving Food Forest. Above all, this place is guided by gratitude and created for delight as Kathy and Ed try new things. You may find surprises for the eyes and the heart.
Garden #2: Tour a large yard of a fearless home gardener. The result is a bold mix of the unusual - like a huge ginko tree - along with plants we know well that are featured in new ways. The garden beds will give you ideas for your own landscape. The owner is happy to answer questions and share his hard won knowledge of gardening in North Florida.
Additionally, participants will enjoy a delicious brunch catered and served at the Gainesville Garden Club, providing a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for guests to unwind and socialize after the garden tour.
After brunch, you will have the opportunity to stroll the campus of the GGC and enjoy photo opportunities under the blooming rose trellis or other appealing areas. Visit our newly-expanded Butterfly Garden and marvel in the pollinator activity around you. Throughout the campus, find benches and shady spots to rest and savor all the beauty that is the GGC. Then stop by our developing Wildflower Garden, yet another pollinator hot spot.
Finally, enjoy putting together and taking home a lovely tussie-mussie to mark the day. The GGC’s Mother’s Day Garden Tour assures you of a day that provides large doses of beauty, magic, and good fellowship. Don’t miss the perfect day for celebrating the joy of mothers everywhere!
